Frequently asked questions

How is the credit card interest estimated?

Interest ≈ (statement balance − amount you pay) × yearly rate ÷ 365 × days until the next statement. A monthly rate is turned into a yearly one by multiplying by 12.

Why might my bank charge more?

Issuers often charge interest from each purchase date and on new purchases while a balance is unpaid, and add GST. The estimate does not include those.
