Personal accident insurance

Personal accident insurance pays fixed amounts, set in its schedule, if an accident causes death or a listed disability. Some policies also pay a weekly amount while you cannot work, and some pay medical expenses after an accident.

It does not replace health insurance: it pays for listed accident outcomes, not for illness.

Frequently asked questions

Is personal accident insurance the same as health insurance?

No. It pays fixed amounts for death or disability from an accident. Health insurance pays hospital bills for covered illness and injury. Many people need both.
