Businesses usually combine several policies: property cover for the premises, stock and machinery; marine cover for goods in transit; liability cover for harm to customers or the public; and health or accident cover for employees.
IRDAI introduced standard property policies for micro and small enterprises in 2021, Bharat Sookshma Udyam Suraksha and Bharat Laghu Udyam Suraksha; since June 2022 insurers may also offer their own alternatives. Larger risks are usually assessed individually by the insurer.
