Stamp duty and registration charges

How the registry estimator uses the state's rules, and why there is no single percentage for India.

Every state has its own rules

Stamp duty, registration fees, surcharges and cesses, and any rebates for women, senior citizens or other buyers, are set by each state and can depend on the type of document, the type of property and who the parties are. Finobazaar has no single national percentage.

The estimator uses only the rules recorded for the state, each with its notification, effective date and source. If no rule is recorded for your state, document or property type, it says so and does not estimate.

The base value

Charges are usually worked out on the higher of the DLC value and the agreed price. The estimator shows which base it used and every charge, rebate, minimum and maximum it applied.

Frequently asked questions

Is the registry estimate final?

No. It is an estimate from the rules recorded on Finobazaar. The sub-registrar's office works out the amount payable at registration.

Why is there no estimate for my state?

Because no rule for your state, document type or property type has been recorded yet. Finobazaar does not use another state's rule or a general percentage instead.
